What this site stores in your browser, what it does not, and how to stay in control. Spoiler: there is almost nothing.
This is a courtesy translation, provided so that you can understand our terms. MEUS PRODUCTION is a French business and these documents are governed by French law: in the event of any discrepancy, only the French version is legally binding.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file placed in your browser by a site you visit. It lets that site recognise you from one page to the next, or from one visit to the following one.
The word « cookie » is used here in the broad sense, as the CNIL - the French data protection authority - uses it: it also covers neighbouring technologies that store or read information on your device, such as browser local storage, invisible pixels and device identifiers.
Not all cookies are alike. Some are indispensable for the service to work; others exist to measure or to follow you. Only the latter require your consent.
2. The different categories
Here are the main families of cookies found on the web, and how the law treats them. The next section sets out which of them are actually present on this site.
- Strictly necessary - without them the service cannot work: keeping your session, security, load balancing. Exempt from consent (article 82 of the French Loi Informatique et Libertés)
- Preferences - remember your choices: language, display, filters. Consent required, unless they result from an explicit action on your part
- Analytics and statistics - count visits and page views. Consent required, except in a strictly limited configuration approved by the CNIL
- External features - content embedded from another site: a map, a video player, a font. Consent required as soon as they set a cookie or make tracking possible
- Marketing and advertising - follow your browsing across sites to target adverts. Consent required, always
3. The cookies actually used on this site
This site sets no analytics, statistics or advertising cookies whatsoever. It uses neither Google Analytics, nor the Meta Pixel, nor any other tracker. It stores nothing in your browser's local storage.
That is precisely why no consent banner is imposed on you: there is nothing to consent to. A banner that serves no purpose is not a sign of seriousness, it is a needless nuisance.
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
- Session cookie - set only if you sign in to the client portal or to the management area. It keeps you signed in from one page to the next and protects forms against fraudulent requests. It expires after 7 days at the latest, and is deleted when you sign out
If you do not have an account, browsing the public site sets no cookie at all.
3.2 External services called by your pages
Some content comes from other servers. Your browser contacts them directly, which passes them your IP address - that is simply how the web works, and it does not necessarily involve a cookie.
- Stripe - only if you make a payment. The payment page belongs to Stripe and sets its own cookies, necessary for the security of the transaction
- OpenStreetMap - the Contact page map loads only if you choose “Show the map” or open the OpenStreetMap link. Your browser then contacts the service directly.
- Mux - playback of the videos in our work, with no analytics
- Unsplash - some illustrations on the Services and About pages; no cookie is set
- Share buttons - the links to LinkedIn, Facebook and WhatsApp are plain links. None of those networks' scripts is loaded: nothing is sent to them until you click
Each of these services applies its own privacy policy, over which we have no control.
4. Managing consent
As the site currently stands, no cookie subject to consent is set: there is therefore nothing for you to accept, refuse or configure. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be turned off from the site, because without them signing in to your account would be impossible - your browser nonetheless lets you block them (see the next section).
4.1 Should that ever change
The day an analytics tool, a tracking external service or an advertising system is added, it will not be switched on quietly. A consent module would be put in place before anything is set, and would let you:
- accept everything, or refuse everything, one as easily as the other
- choose category by category
- change your mind at any time, as simply as you gave your consent
- browse normally if you refuse: no feature of the public site depends on it
This page would be updated accordingly, with the exact list of the cookies concerned and their lifetime.
5. Retention periods
The applicable principles are as follows:
- This site's session cookie: 7 days at most, and deleted as soon as you sign out
- Cookies subject to consent: the CNIL recommends a maximum lifetime of 13 months, and retention of the information collected limited to 25 months. As no cookie of this kind is set, this rule has no practical application today
- External services' cookies (Stripe, OpenStreetMap): their lifetime is set by those services, in their own policies
Where consent is required, it must be asked for again at least every six months if it was refused.
7. Updates to this policy
This page is reviewed whenever a technical change to the site could alter the cookies it sets. The applicable version is the one published here.
For the handling of your personal data in general, see our privacy policy.
